“An incredible, present voice, in a simple arrangement that just creeps under your skin." - is what Steffen Brandt, lead singer and songwriter from the Danish band TV2, said about Lilac's Daughter after releasing her first demo, Bitter & Scared in February 2011.
Lilac’s Daughter is a self-taught artist whose musical adventure started when she was just fifteen. She pulled an old guitar from the cupboard under the stairs and started writing songs that are a "wonderful blend of Americano folk and vocals that would grab anyone’s attention." as James from myrandomjukebox.com describes it September 10th 2015. He continues: "With every additional song I heard the more I needed the music by Lilac’s Daughter to be part of my music collection."
Independently of record labels, Lilac’s Daughter has performed and toured in Scandinavia, Germany, United Kingdom and the United States of America with great success. It's the lonesome days on the road like those that gives life to the beautiful melancholy that shines through in her folky tunes. Lilac’s Daughter is a great story teller with a soothing organic sound, and a wonderfully unique voice you wont find elsewhere.
In 2014 she recorded her first full length album in collaboration with producers Søren Itenov and Christoffer Stjerne in Copenhagen, Denmark. After the recording, Søren Itenov said: “As a producer and musician, I've been working in the Danish music business for twenty years, picking up three platinum records along the way, working with a lot of talent, and Sif Jacobsen (Lilac’s Daughter) is the real deal.” He continues: “Sif is a highly talented musician, a pleasure to work with, and one of the few singers I've had in my studio who can deliver lead vocals to an entire album in one day, with dead-on delivery in every take.”
Lilac’s Daughter’s songs have been well received and played by BBC Introducing West Yorkshire, DR (Danish National Radio) P4, and recommended by DR, Karriere Kanonen. Her full length album, Youth is available on all streaming services.
Sif Jacobsen, songwriter and performer of Lilac’s Daughter, moved to the UK in 2014 as she began studying at Leeds College of Music. She completed her studies with a Master in 2018 and she now lives in the UK while keeping her career active, doing lots of shows all over Europe and by being involved in exciting projects.
